Perdaman have established a strong presence in Western Australian industry through the establishment of Australia’s largest ever downstream manufacturing project, the AUS 6.0 billion Karratha Urea Project. Operating across a diverse range of industries, each promoting innovation, growth and community, Perdaman had grown exponentially necessitating the need for a new home where everyone could work together on one level.

PAPER were commissioned in March 2023 to bring this prestigious project to realisation by Chairman Vikas Rambal and his family. The Brief was to create a “best in class”, human centric workplace environment that will support the group into the future.

Spread over 1570m2 of level 18 Alluvion Building the tenancy accommodates over 120 employees with an equal mix of cellular offices and open collaborative zone workstations.

The challenge of high density had to be balanced with generous front of house conference and meeting rooms along with a significant hub café.

Along with “best in class” quality the Chairman requested that the design be open and transparent to allow maximum penetration of light, increased sight lines and access to external views. A clear sense of orientation across the floor assisted by a legible planning solution was developed to achieve these aims.

Visitors to Perdaman are naturally directed after the lifts into a generous reception area, the space expanding to bring in views of the Swan River using synchronous glass walls - across of a broad front of transparent conference rooms each side of the reception waiting area.

Within the workplace, the solution between balancing openness and built environment involved creating 3 distinctive view corridors connecting northern and southern aspects to the west, east and central zones of the fitout. The layout allows business units to seamlessly expand and contract each side of a large north facing hub café which can accommodate 40% of Perdaman.

Built zones and workstations are by Unifor Australia and front of house furnishings are by Unifor and Antonio Citterio for Vitra.

Organic, natural, tactile finishes accented with subtle use of colour and Persian carpets complement Perdaman’s corporate image, also include mahogany furnishings and panelling which are a subtle reference to the Rambal family’s Indian heritage.
